Compressed Biogas Technology

Transform organic waste into clean, renewable compressed biogas (CBG) for sustainable energy generation

Overview

What is Compressed Biogas Technology?

Compressed Biogas (CBG) technology represents a sustainable pathway to convert organic waste into clean, renewable energy. Through anaerobic digestion, biogas upgrading, and compression, organic materials such as agricultural residues, food waste, cattle dung, and industrial effluents are transformed into a high-quality fuel that can replace conventional natural gas.

The CBG production process involves purifying raw biogas by removing carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, moisture, and other impurities to achieve methane concentrations exceeding 95%. This purified biomethane is then compressed to 200-250 bar pressure, making it suitable for storage in cascades and use as a vehicle fuel (Bio-CNG) or injection into natural gas grids.

Spans Envirotech offers comprehensive CBG solutions encompassing anaerobic digesters, biogas upgrading systems, compression equipment, and storage facilities. Our turnkey plants enable industries, municipalities, and agricultural enterprises to convert waste into valuable energy while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and achieving energy independence.

Process

CBG Production Process

1

Feedstock Preparation

Organic waste materials are collected, sorted, and preprocessed. Mixing different feedstocks optimizes carbon-to-nitrogen ratios for efficient digestion.

2

Anaerobic Digestion

Organic matter is broken down by microorganisms in oxygen-free digesters, producing raw biogas (55-65% methane, 35-45% CO2) along with digestate fertilizer.

3

Biogas Upgrading

Raw biogas passes through purification systems using water scrubbing, PSA, or membrane separation to remove CO2, H2S, and moisture, achieving >95% methane purity.

4

Compression & Storage

Purified biomethane is compressed to 200-250 bar using multi-stage compressors and stored in high-pressure cascades for distribution or vehicle refueling.

5

Distribution & Utilization

CBG is dispensed as Bio-CNG for vehicles, injected into natural gas pipelines, or used for power generation and industrial thermal applications.
